For Twitter’s #TakeUpSpace campaign, we created a custom emoji and full toolkit to celebrate and empower the Black community. Rooted in the idea of confidently embracing presence, the visual identity extended across stickers, screens, and more—designed to spark meaningful conversation while staying true to Twitter’s brand.

The Emoji

In order to ensure the desired result for the client, we went through numerous rounds of exploration for the emoji. The images on the left are versions that didn’t make the cut, and the crown on the right is our final product. The Twitter Blackbirds team wanted a crown reminiscent of Basquiat’s Crown.
